Starting with just a few classic knit pieces, Fournier now employs a staff of 75 Bolivian artisans to hand-craft everything from organic knit rattles, to baby alpaca infant wear to hip, woven sportswear. Nothing has changed when it comes to her style though: clean, subtly colored, and timeless.

HATS AND ACCESSORIES: SHORT HAT COMPANY Homebase: Louisville, CO DESIGNER: Chris Epp Sizes: 6 months to 6 years; Wholesale prices: $12-$22 The important basics of a hat are good looks, warmth and comfort. The talented Epp offers all three in this season's cool styles. His brimmed pieces include a padded "coolmax" headband that eliminates scratchiness and wicks away moisture. A "true fit" adjustable back keeps the hats snug without binding.
Outstanding pieces: Full padded and lined with cozy fleece, the unisex Scout is one high performance piece of work. It's attractive snapped under the chin, or with the flaps closed on top.
