Zutano Presents Its Fall 2004 Trend Report; Takes a Modern, Homespun Look at the New Season

(Cabot, VT; January 10, 2004) Taking inspiration from remembered and idealized visions of childhood. Autumnal landscapes and camp weekends inspire prints and colors, with a natural eco-spirit. A creative combination of collage and doodles with a feel for treasure maps.

Ad hoc combinations of old and new, using handcrafted details and a button-floral pattern for girls. Important details include "hand" stitching and appliquéd flowers as well as mossy bouclés. The look has a hand-embroidered feel, with the simplicity of the worn and well loved garment. Images from the forest and nature inspire rhythmic stripes and prints. Mixed sized buttons and practical zippers elevate simple styling.

Color:

Faded brights for a soft, homely feel, with flashes of stronger color that inject an element of surprise. Quirky combinations that are Zutano's trademark. Washed-down tones of pink rose, pale yam, Blue haze and smoke, contrasted with rich darks, burgundy, mulberry, moss and Indigo blue. The color groups of the 2 deliveries for fall 2004 will complement and interact with each other.

Textiles:

Ultra-soft, brushed, faded, washed fabrics and knits will give the collection a nostalgic appearance. Brushed and appliquéd surfaces create warmth and comfort. Mixing fine and chunky textures, matt and velvet sheen, updates knitwear and wovens. Not to be missed: the Soft and tactile "Plush", a knit with a soft and airy volume that's very light in weight and very high in comfort and warmth.

Styling:

Comfortable, cozy, sportswear that mixes new silhouettes, updated proportions and quirky detailing creates a fun look for younger boys and girls.
