(Frisco, TX; February 17,
2004) My Vintage Baby celebrated a hugely successful
business launch at the Dallas Market on January, 22-24,
2004, (Dallas' slowest children's market of the year),
where they were picked up by 22 stores. Owner Jessica
Wiswall hopes to more than triple the number of stores
that carry My Vintage Baby products within the next two
months during a nationwide series of market trade shows
in Las Vegas, Mississippi, Los Angeles, Dallas, and New
York.
Wiswall started her collection of
vintage décor and fabric a few years ago, shopping
in local antique shops and estate sales. She created
clocks out of old 1940's nursery rhyme records,
refurnished old 1960's nursery room lamp bases with new
whimsical shades, embellished overalls with authentic
vintage fabrics and created artwork with old story book
pages and antique tin ceiling tiles.
Wiswall's original intent was to have
a customer base of friends and referrals, but word of My
Vintage Baby spread quickly, and by October 2003, 6 local
Dallas boutiques were carrying My Vintage Baby products.
Soon thereafter, showroom representatives in Los Angeles
and New York had picked up the My Vintage Baby line.
Production was moved from local independent seamstresses
to a large Dallas factory to allow Wiswall and her staff
to concentrate on quality with the larger
demand.
Wiswall says, "What makes My Vintage
Baby clothing and accessories unique is that they are
vintage and one-of-a-kind. We use old feed sacks,
hankies, chenilles, aprons, and tablecloths to embellish
our clothing and create one-of-a-kind designs. Each and
every item is individually fashioned and overseen by a
member of our design team. We pride ourselves in paying
close attention to every detail; for example, buttons are
Swarovski crystals, all pants and skirts have grow-tabs
for a better boutique fit, etc."
Most children's clothing, when washed
and worn over time, tends to look "tired." A distinctive
quality of My Vintage Baby clothing is that as time goes
on and the garments are washed and worn they look better.
The embellishments are designed to fray as they are
washed and gently loved, thus adding to the vintage look.
My Vintage Baby clothing is available
for boys and girls sizes newborn-6 years, and retails for
$20-$120. The home décor division of My Vintage
Baby includes clocks, lamps, wall décor, and more.
My Vintage Baby also has an accessories division that
includes bibs, diaper bags, burp cloths and kid-sized
totes.
