KIWI Industries Launches Infant and Toddler Clothing Line

(Albuquerque, NM; November 4, 2003) Kiwi Industries today announced the launch of its infant and toddler clothing line. The Kiwi Industries Spring 2004 line debuted at the ENK International Children's Club show in October and the response was amazing.

Inspired by the New Zealand philosophy of living simply, Kiwi Industries reaches back in time and produces comfortable, simple infants' and toddlers' clothing. The Spring/Summer 2004 collection has organic cotton onesies, baby caps, and toddler tees, and machine-washable linen dresses, pants, and a shortall. All pieces are screen printed with whimsical and vintage-feel 19th century etchings of assorted animals and sea creatures. The screening process involves applying two layers of black, which provides an incredibly detailed (and long-lasting) result. The linen is woven, dyed, and then washed, resulting in fabric with an incredible softness, much like the linen sheets used long ago.

American Apparel, a nationally recognized sweat-shop free, living wage factory in Los Angeles, has partnered with Kiwi Industries to produce their first children's' organic tees, bringing quality and experience, as well as U.S. production, to customers. "Certified Organic" means that the tees are free of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers for at least three years. Organic cotton is produced with vegetable or animal matter fertilizers and relies on crop rotation and botanical or biological controls. Kiwi tees are made from combed cotton, which is then ring spun with a 28 gauge weave, making the cotton as soft as possible.

Kiwi Industries believes in a sustainable environment. This means socially responsible manufacturing and production in the U.S. Kiwi Industries uses natural, organic and recycled fibers in their clothing, they print on recycled paper, and they offer reusable packaging when possible. Cites Becky Grebosky, mother of two and CEO of Kiwi Industries, "Today's kids are so overwhelmed with consumption and packed schedules that there is hardly time left to explore, to create, to dream. Kiwi Industries is about finding, or rather making, that missing time."

The Fall/Winter 2004 will continue with a focus on the environment by adding a recycled plastic bottle fleece line. Buyers will have a chance to check out the Fall/Winter 2004 line at the ENK International Children's Club show, being held March 7-9, 2004 at the Javits Center, New York, NY.
