Pineapple Kiss Children's Clothing Puckers Up and Takes Off with Its New Spring 04 Collection for Boys

(Brookline, MA; July 15, 2003) A kiss is definitely not just a kiss. Not when it's Pineapple Kiss - a new line of fashions for boys and girls - that proves that kids' clothes don't have to be just kids' clothes.

The sweetly named company captures the overwhelming enthusiasm, uniqueness and energy of childhood in a playful array of quality textures, colors and patterns that, until now, have been conspicuously missing from children's clothing.

Pineapple Kiss, initially a strictly infant/toddler line for girls, has seen major growth. From its first to its second season, the company more than tripled its retail presence, adding stores across the country as well as expanding overseas, and expanded its size range to include girls through size 7. Now in its third season, Pineapple Kiss has added boys' fashions as well. "Customers - both retailers and shoppers - have repeatedly expressed a frustration at the dearth of interesting and stylish clothes for little boys," says designer Diana Cheren Nygren. "I have a son of my own, and it doesn't make any sense to him that his sister should get all of the cool clothes."

Pineapple Kiss attributes much of its early success to its combination of European styling and domestic manufacturing. "People seem surprised to see a domestic line that combines fabrics, patterns and textures in bold and unexpected ways. I try to design clothes that capture the playfulness and whimsy of childhood," explains Nygren. "My goal is to use fabrics and design techniques in a fashion forward, unexpected way, but to still make them children's clothes, not miniature adult clothes."

The fall 03 collection - which runs the gamut from floral and paisley flared pants to chunky, knobby-knit swing coats - is quickly becoming the newest "must have" for fashionistas in the making. Fans of Pineapple Kiss include style-setting celebrity moms Kelly Preston and Cindy Crawford.

Pineapple Kiss aims to bring to the market clothes that are fun and funky without being trendy, stylish without being precious. The spring 2004 collection is now available to retailers online at www.pineapplekiss.com or by calling 617-957-6064.
