(Edam; The Netherlands; July
15, 2003) In spring, the little Jots are taking to
life on the ocean wave. The boys looking like hardy Jack
Tars, the little Jot girls deciding on a romantic whim to
swim after them. Who will prove the toughest?
The collection has two delivery ranges
with clear themes.
The first range comprises babies',
boys' and girls' collections with a maritime theme; a
second theme bursting with romance, and a sturdy,
rough-and-tumble theme. Romance is expressed in the
babies' and girls' collections in particular. The boys
join in with a tough, maritime look. A lot of naval
colours, such as dark navy and white. The romantic theme
is conveyed in white, light grey and light blue. The
tough look is reflected by the colours white and
rockstone. All of these colours are incorporated into the
boys' collection - this collection is a combination of
classical and tough.
The badges and print were inspired by
the emblem on a naval uniform.
The materials used are extremely
varied. There is a poplin in white, light blue and
rockstone for baby dresses, blouses and trousers. For the
boys, shirts and trousers and for the girls dresses,
trousers and blouses, as well as a skirt with lace. There
is also a dress with removable sleeves (buttons) in
Breton stripe and with dark navy piping on the seams.
Fine linen cotton in white, light blue and dark navy for
the baby sailor's dress and trousers, etc., a shirt for
the boys and a jacket for the girls inspired by a tail
coat. Linen in chambray blend and in chambray blend with
a pin stripe, dark navy/white for the babies, for the
boys a jacket with waistcoat and trousers with removable
legs (buttons), resulting in Bermuda shorts. For the
girls, a dress, trousers and a calf-length skirt with a
voile petticoat.
A tough linen cotton in white and
rockstone and a double-cloth in white and dark navy and
rockstone to be worn with dungarees for the boys, girls
and babies. A supple, water-resistant fabric with
papertouch in dark navy and light blue with a striped
tricot lining in the dark navy and tricot with a design
in the light blue jackets. Voile in white for the baby
petticoat dress and, for the girls, a petticoat with dark
navy piping. An embroidered lace and a tulle lace are
worked into the dress and blouses.
There are also multicoloured stripes
into which the colours of the whole range are
incorporated, and a viscose/linen with a fine stripe in
white/rockstone and an extremely fine linen with a damask
print in light blue. Also a print with renaissance-style
stylised floral motifs, based on a design brought by
Marco Polo from Damascus to Venice in circa 1295.
Trousers, blouses and dresses for the babies and girls
are available in this fabric.
Jottum presents a single jersey in all
colours in tricot, an elastic cotton tricot also in all
colours and Breton stripe in a variety of designs in
single jersey in dark navy/white and light blue/white.
Boys' sweaters, also in a Breton stripe in
rockstone/white and light blue/white. Also a fine heavy
jersey in linen cotton, only in white.
The second delivery range is an
all-girls' collection in off-white, pink, garnet red,
faded rose and sand. The collection consists of a
romantic section and a more racy section.
The fabrics here again are a poplin
for blouses with lace, short trousers with lace
finishing, dungarees, dresses and trousers. A 'crumpled'
dress and skirt, trousers and a top in melé
cotton. A small cotton plaid, a damask print, but this
time in fine linen in off-white with the print in pink
for the dress, trousers and blouse. Voile for the
petticoat dress.

and tops, with a fine stripe in sand and pink for tops,

piping and damask print.
