Launch
of Miss b. Brings a Modern Twist on Classic Fashions for
the Tween Set
(Ross, CA; July 1, 2011)
Busy
Bees, the preppy-chic
children's apparel line, which has quickly become a
favorite of moms-in-the-know since it was founded three
years ago, announces the launch of
Miss
b for Spring 2012. Like
Busy Bees, Miss b finds its design inspiration in the
timeless pieces that we grew up with, resulting in a
stylish, classic-inspired collection of dresses,
separates and accessories for the 8-to-16 year-old girl.
The Miss b collection will debut at ENK's Children's Club
July/August show (Booth 2017.)
As we witnessed our customers who
have been wearing our precious smocked dresses and preppy
separates grow up and ultimately out of Busy Bees, we
would hear from moms that there was nowhere for them to
turn to for classic, non-embellished clothes," says Busy
Bees owner and designer Maryam Barrett. "The same held
true for my own daughter who was quickly inching her way
out of the line," she adds. "Some brands offer the same
dress in size 2T through 12T, but realistically what
looks adorable on a toddler doesn't necessarily work for
a 10-year-old girl," says Maryam. "To my daughter,
wearing the same dress that her three year old cousin
adores and wears constantly is simply not an option."
Barrett continues, "On the other hand "mini-me" versions
of women's styles are also not appropriate. What we hope
to do with Miss b is fill a void for simple, classic
pieces that appeal to both mother and daughter while
embracing the child's developing sense of personal style
and individuality."
CLASSIC SHIFT DRESS
Miss b's timeless styles have a
strong emphasis on comfort and wearability. The pieces
are stylish and enduring, each updated with clever
details such as contrast top stitching or decorative
buttons and constructed of soft, luxurious fabrics such
as stretch cotton poplins, ring spun knits and washable
silks.
While the collection is designed to
complement its younger sibling Busy Bees, it will stand
on its own by offering different fabrications to appeal
to the more sophisticated eye of a tween shopper by
presenting an exciting twist on familiar styles. For
example, Miss b's polo shirts have a stylish cap sleeve,
rather than the sweet puffed sleeve found in the Busy
Bees collection. Similarly, a sweet floral print dress
from Busy Bees is given a slightly more age appropriate
style by changing the silhouette to a chic Audrey
Hepburn-inspired shift, but one that still looks picture
perfect next to its little sister version. Accessories
will be a key part of the collection, such as a smartly
striped sailor scarf, or a chic Parisian inspired floral
belt, adding just the right amount of flair to an outfit.
