is proud to announce the newest member to its
family…artist Jennifer Mercede. Baby Star has signed
an exclusive license with Jennifer Mercede to showcase
her playful art on baby and toddler clothing for Fall
2009.
"We are beyond excited about this
new partnership," says Founder and Chief Creative
Officer, Dana Bach Johnson. "Jennifer's art is so unique,
fresh and fun and we are honored to share it with the wee
ones of the world."
Jennifer received her BA in
Painting from Western Washington University. Her abstract
paintings consist of free flowing text and energetic
doodling. They are created to be enjoyed and to
positively motivate. Her artistic style is about letting
go, taking chances and the belief that there are no
mistakes. Jennifer is inspired by bright colors,
old-school hip hop, graffiti, abstract expressionism, her
inner spirituality and her many creative
friends.
The G-Raffs characters that will be
featured in the Fall Baby Star collection already have
quite a following. They were first created for
commissioned paintings after friends and fans saw a
similar doodle drawn by the artist. When Kara, owner of
the popular Portland, OR children's store "Grasshopper"
on Alberta Street, saw one of these paintings, she
insisted they be displayed prominently in her
store. A whimsical energy and bright colors have
made the G-Raffs an instant hit with all who see them.
They have developed an international following of fans.
That fan club is sure to grow when the new Baby Star
Collection featuring the G-Raffs hits the
market.

Baby Star to share the personality of the G-Raffs and
other creatures on little clothes for little people,"
said Jennifer. "I am excited my art will bring
playful, joyful smiles to kids throughout their
